Hot! The Almond Milk and Honey Body Range at The Body Shop

Make peace with sensitive skin with The Body Shop’s new Almond Milk & Honey bath and skin care range. Enriched with Community Trade almond oil from the Alicante region of Spain, and Community Trade honey from the UNESCO Sheka rainforest in Ethiopia, this caring new range is as kind to the environment as it is your skin.

2-1

Body Shop’s Almond oil comes from almond nuts grown by expert farmers in the Alicante region of Spain. To collect the precious honey sourced from the Sheka rainforest biosphere reserve, The Body Shop works with the “bee whisperers” of Beza Mar, a group dedicated to improving the livelihood of Ethiopian beekeeping communities and maintaining their traditional, natural way of working with the bees. This helps support the sustainable use of the forest by providing a steady income to local people who might otherwise be forced to agriculture that could lead to deforestation.

Alongside with its campaign “Make love not war with sensitive skin”, The Body Shop also wants people to embrace sensitivity, to show kindness and empathy to all the sensitive issues seen in social media.

Made for sensitively dry skin, The Body Shop’s new range starts from bath essentials such as the Almond Milk & Honey Cleansing Bar, Gently Exfoliating Cream Body Scrub, Bath Milk, and Shower Cream.  There are also products for your after-bath skin care routine- the Almond Milk & Honey Body Lotion, Soothing & Restoring Body Butter, and the Calming & Protecting Hand Cream.

The Body Shop now accepts SM Advantage Card for points earning and redemption, SM and Sodexo premium pass in all The Body Shop stores nationwide.

SM – LTO Tie up for Easy Driver’s License Renewal

My Husband’s birthday is fast approaching and soon enough, he’ll ask me for tips on where he can renew his Driver’s license.  My answer now would be – in SM!

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and SM recently signed a memorandum of agreement to bring Drivers’ license renewal closer, easier and more convenient to the public at SM City North EDSA.

LTO Chief Asec. Edgar Galvante (3RD from left), SM Supermalls President Annie Garcia(4th from left), and SM Mart, Inc. Executive Vice President Ricky Lim (2nd from left) during the recent signing of the Memorandum of Agreement which allows LTO to occupy a space for their Driver’s License Renewal Center (DLRC) at selected SM Malls. Also present are SM Mart, Inc. Vice President for Business Center Operations Dennis Yaw, LTO Executive Director Atty. Romeo Vera Cruz, and LTO-NCR Regional Director Atty. Clarence Guinto. With this partnership, the public can expect more DLRCs in various SM malls nationwide. This is one way to serve the public better and to bring the government services closer, easier and conveniently to the public.

This partnership will also give mallgoers the opportunity to have their licensed processed while shopping, having fun, and doing their other errands in SM Malls.

The partnership allows LTO to set up and operate Driver’s License Renewal Centers (DLRC) at selected malls such as:
  • SM City North EDSA
  • SM City Pampanga
  • SM City Manila
  • SM City Cebu
  • SM Southmall
  • SM Mall of Asia
  • SM City San Jose Del Monte
  • SM City Davao
  • SM Seaside City Cebu and
  • SM City Cabanatuan
DLRCs are open from Mondays to Saturdays from 10am to 9pm (excluding legal holidays, special non-working days and work suspensions declared by the government).

LTO Chief Asec. Edgar Galvante graced the MOA signing together with LTO Executive Director Atty. Romeo Vera Cruz, LTO-NCR Regional Director Atty. Clarence Guinto, SM Supermalls President Annie Garcia, SM Mart, Inc. Executive Vice President Ricky Lim and Vice President for Business Center Operations Dennis Yaw.

The Driver’s License Renewal Center (DLRC) at SM City North EDSA is conveniently located at the Government Service Express at The Annex, LTO’s Drivers License Renewal together with other government service counters such as Philippine Postal Corporation, PhilHealth, SSS, GSIS, and Pag-IBIG.

The Government Service Center at SM City North EDSA is a one-stop venue for various government service counters such as Philippine Postal Corporation, PhilHealth, SSS, GSIS, and Pag-IBIG.

Likewise, SM Business Centers and SM Bills Payment Counters now accept payments for license renewal, and will serve as an alternate receiving and payment counters to augment the LTO central office; accepting cash payments from LTO clients with Order of Payment forms from 10:00am to 7:00pm every day.

Meanwhile, SM Business Centers offer PSA (formerly NSO) applications for birth, marriage, and death certificates; PRC renewals of professional licenses; DTI consumer welfare services and renewal of business name; and Ombudsman Clearance applications.

Moreover, SM Bills Payment counters located in The SM Store, SM Supermarket, SM Hypermarket and Savemore, accept payments for contributions and/or loans for the Social Security System, Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth and National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation and Armed Forces & Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (AFPMBAI); and payment of fines for tickets issued by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

I super agree that the LTO Driver’s License Renewal Center (DLRC) is one of the many services SM extends beyond shopping to its customers.

SM Malls truly never fail to cheer and amaze young and old alike with elegant and well designed  Christmas displays and events.  Last Sunday, November 6, Angono townsfolk once again were awed as they experienced a spectacular, oh-so-grand welcoming of the Christmas season in their friendly neighborhood mall – SM Center Angono with its My Little Pony theme for the Holidays!

The event was graced by none other than Mayor Gerry Calderon and his family, who later officially “lighted” the mall’s beautiful centerpiece located at the upper ground floor.  He expressed his thanks to SM, in behalf of Angono folks, for helping build quality lives and adding so much merriment to the holidays!

Egg-citing Surprises at SM

Many cherished Easter traditions have been with us for centuries. Eggs, chicks, and rabbits are symbols of joy and new life that comes with the spring and Christ’s resurrection.

12

Decorating eggs for Easter is a tradition that dates back to the 13th century. It is said that eggs were formerly a forbidden food during the Lenten season, so people would paint and decorate them to mark the end of the period of penance, then eat them on Easter to celebrate.

Likewise, the Easter Bunny was said to have first arrived in America in the 1700s with German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania, and brought with them their tradition of an egg-laying hare called Osterhase or Oschter Haws. Their children made nests in which this creature could lay its colored eggs.

Eventually, the custom spread across the US, and with it, the fabled rabbit’s morning deliveries expanded to include chocolate, candy, and gifts. Decorated baskets replaced nests.

Taking Gifting to the Next Level

Why don’t you give love on Christmas day?

We all know the song, and the truth – that it gets even better when the love  you give also comes with a present. I have always been a fan of “little things.” To me, what is important is that someone remembered and someone cared enough to give me a present. That thought alone makes my heart melt.

Don’t you just love it when Christmas is near? There’s that festive, happy mood everywhere! People are just extra kind and generous. Kids are excited, dreaming of toys and gadgets and counting the days before they get to open their presents.  It is just amazing that people from different backgrounds – Moms and dads, aunts and uncles, ninongs and ninangs, sweethearts and friends make lists and take time to buy presents to show that they care.

Christmas List for me and family

Six weeks away from Christmas and I constantly remind myself to finalize my list, choose with care and head to a nearby SM Mall to purchase them.  Note to self: Include myself in my Christmas list. Oh, how I often forget myself for Christmas. So for this year, I’m giving myself a gift.

A red Asha love seat, Our Home

I’ve always wanted to buy a sofa that I can put in my nook, a special place in our house where I can read my favorite books, write and enjoy my quiet, quality time. More than a sofa, it tells me that there is one place in the house where I can just be myself and enjoy time with coffee and soft music in the background.

For my husband – an acoustic guitar.  I know he wants one.   I would love to have more music in the house and would like to expose our 4 year old son, Lukas, to love music as much as I do.  Consequently, The husband always wanted another baby and if it is God’s will,  why not? 🙂

Lukas may wake up on Christmas morn with a new bike! Can’t wait to see how his eyes would sparkle when he sees it. He’s turning 5 next year and what is a little boy without a bike? Perhaps this can be an opportunity for all of us to have our own bikes and spend time outdoors with the family.

Unconditional gifts

I believe that the best gifts are those which are given without any expectation of getting something in return, where the intent of the giver is just to be a blessing to others in need.  Unconditional gift-giving starts by sharing a piece of yourself.

Here’s sharing what my family have given others / done in the past:

  • Personally arranged Fruit basket
  • Spaghetti pack (pasta, spaghetti sauce) for families
  • A set of school supplies (paper, pencils, eraser, art paper, clear envelope) for school-aged children
  • Snack pack: Biscuits, noodles, powdered milk, crackers for children
  • Partner with UNICEF or World Vision by sponsoring a child or giving a monthly pledge

SM Christmas Bears of Joy

Bears-of-Joy-2014

IMG_3916

There is another way we can make a child happy. We can partner with SM Cares.  For Php 200.00, you get to keep one bear and donate the other to children from various orphanages and charitable institutions through the SM Cares program.  Imagine a child so happy, she got a cute, huggable teddy bear for Christmas. Truly, there’s joy in giving.

Gift giving can be a chore to deal with but with loving intention and care, can be a source of fulfillment.  The best ones are those we give just because.  I’m reminded of how God gave the best gift of all that first Christmas. He saw our need for a Savior and sent His son Jesus to us even when we are unable to reciprocate His love. Truly unconditional giving displayed in love.

Happy gift giving everyone!
