A happy heads up to pet owners and lovers in Rizal Area! We now have a nearby PET PARK at SM City Taytay for our furry friends and fur babies! Yay!

In celebration of International Dog’s day, August 26, 2017, SM City Taytay, in partnership with Doodles Paw Couture and Team Doggie’s Choice, launched the first ever Pet Park at SM Supermalls.

Pets and owners participated in an opening ceremony where all pets were prayed for and blessed.   Then, they were treated to freebies, product samples  and complimentary grooming.  There were raffles and games and a competition  for SM Pet Ambassador.

The SM PetPark features an agility area for the dogs, mini pet pool, colorful benches, an event area for future pet events and Doggie’s Choice Pet Village.

The SM Pet Park is SM Supermall’s way of giving back and contributing to our community’s development. Through this, SM Supermalls shows how our beloved pets are also welcome for a better mall experience together with the pets.

Thanks to SM City Taytay, this fur baby now has a nearby park!

SM Pet Park: Mall experience for our furry friends!

For the first time ever, SM Supermalls will build a Pet Park in SM City Taytay  to bring happiness to pet owners and extend a one-of-a kind mall experience to our furry friends!  The ground breaking ceremony was held last Saturday, March 25,  at SM City Taytay’s BPO – open parking area and was graced by SM City Taytay Mall Manager, Ms. Maureen Fernandez (far left),  Doggie’s Choice owners, adorable Diku (Doggie’s choice mascot) and Philippine pet fashion icon Ms. Bernie Alfonso of Doodles Paw Couture (3rd from left. With them are pet owners with their cute puppies.

No need for pet owners to travel so many miles (not to mention be stuck in traffic)  to visit a pet park in Eastwood, Greenhills or Tiendesitas,  Now, they can enjoy a place where their “fur babies” are welcome and can run and play alongside their friends.

Two months from now, I imagine seeing happy people,  laughters in the air as happy puppies run and jump and dance around and around under a bright sky.

Diku – Doggie’s  Choice mascot stars the groundbreaking event.

May this be the first of many pet parks to be built by SM.  They truly got it all for us and these little four-legged ones.

Newest Shopping Destination in the East

There is a new shopping destination in the East – SM City East Ortigas!

The 60th Supermall  in the country formally opened its doors to excited folks last December 2. They opened with a Bang, of course! – with the band, production numbers, parade, colorful displays, various mascots and lovely characters (Snowman, Fairies, 7 Dwarfs, Princes and Princesses, King and Queen, and many others)  to welcome everyone!

People literally barged in when SM City Ortigas formally opened.

The works!

I know it will be a big hit as it occupies   a prime spot right at the boundary of Pasig City and Cainta, where it enjoys proximity and accessibility to Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong, Marikina and nearby Rizal towns.

For those who haven’t been there, think of the mall as the East Ortigas version of “Megamall.”

Something New

SM East Ortigas is set as the eastern community’s lifestyle hub. It features a paved jogging path and loops that goes around the mall filled with trees serving as natural shade in the day.  It will also have state-of-the-art cinemas, comprised of four digital cinemas and four Director’s Club theaters.

The mall is also ready to welcome to its fold a diverse tenant mix anchored by the SM Store, SM Supermarket, Appliance Center, Ace Hardware and Watsons.  People can expect to keep the merchandising mix fresh and exciting as it welcomes new concepts and first-to-market shops and dining options to complement trusted brands.  It appeals to the lifestyle driven young professionals and the family-oriented people of nearby areas.

What I like about it

I like that the place is wide with 82,000 square meters!  There are lots of tenants – the trusted ones and the new ones which makes me want to come back.  It is well lighted.  The ambiance is fresh, modern and young.  There’s also a big place for events – in fact, that mall can hold multiple events!

And as Christmas is around the corner, I love their awesome and happy display. Over-all, it is one big happy place!

Clarita de Luisa Retreat House and Camp Site

Are you looking for a retreat house, convention hall or seminar venue in Rizal area? Are you looking for a place to unwind – maybe have a picnic with a group of friends? Then, you might find this useful.

One Saturday, my mom, dad and church mates got together at Clarita de Luisa retreat house in Morong Rizal. It was just a 45-minute drive from my hometown in Angono. The place has a cozy, homey, rustic feel to it

It also boasts of nice amenities – session halls, dining area, conference rooms and accommodations.

I especially like the design of the place. It has rustic- modern feel to it, visible in the choice of furnishings made of wood, rattan, glass and other materials. It is really a place to unwind and just chill. The air is fresh, with many plants and trees to simply connect you with nature. As an employee, I’m often used to seeing buildings, buses, cars and traffic so I really appreciated the fact that I tagged along and brought my son with me.

And of course, what fun would it be without food shared with family and friends?

I was told that the place is often rented out by various groups for summer camps, conventions, seminars. My dear brother recently attended a 4-day camp in there and he enjoyed it.

They are located at Sitio Bumbungan, Morong Rizal.  For those who are interested, visit their FB page:  Their contact numbers: 0917 813 5943  and 0917 866 8851.

K Hotel and Residences, Pampanga – A Review

We wanted a quick family getaway for the long weekend and we thought of going North – NOT too north like Ilocos as we wouldn’t like that much time to travel, but someplace just a few hours away from Manila. Our top 2 choices – Tagaytay or Pampanga.  We chose the latter. After a quick look at I was able to book a a room at K Hotel and Residences.   It was (a bit of) a challenge looking for a big room which can cater to 5 people +1 kid. With patience and lots of prayers, I was able to get a big room with 2 King beds which can cater to 6 people. Yey!

The hotel entrance and lobby

K Hotel and Residences (formerly Grandview hotel)

I like the hotel. Half of the hotel is under renovation but I like that it is cozy and cheerful. It has a wide lobby with a big sofa perfect for photo opportunities with your friends and family. The carpeted, lamp-lit hallways can be a bit eerie but music coming from the speakers improved the view. Staff were also very friendly.

We were assigned a dedicated parking lot in the hotel basement and it was well guarded. I was personally thankful for it. Some of the hotels and inns in the area do not have a secured parking lot. Their guests parked their cars just in front of the building. I doubt if that is secured at all. Anyway, we were all happy we didn’t have to worry about the car.

We were happy with the room. (Thank you God!) The King Premium room was (or seems to be) newly renovated. It is wide, bright and just perfect for us.

Two King beds for our wide, spacious room

Wifi was a bit of a problem at that time (We were told there was a problem with the connection, hope they resolve this soon.) The room came equipped with a good big bathroom with a tub, room ref, TV and the usual complimentary bottled water and coffee.

I also like their outdoor pool located at the top floor of the hotel. Just perfect for the family. The view is pleasant and you can’t help but feel relaxed when you see a big portion of the area. There were chairs and tables to put your things in and have your snacks. There was a tall wall with flowing water, similar to a water fall. There was a also a small Jacuzzi in the corner of the pool.

We stayed for 2 nights costing us only P6,000.00. We were able to relax and get our much needed sleep. We had a happy family time and go to Nayong Pilipino and eat at Pampanga’s well known Binulo restaurant. The location is perfect as it is very near a 7/11 convenience store and a string of fast food joints – Jollibee, Chowking etc..

Happy family

It really was such a special time for the family  It was such a blessing to have discovered K Hotel and Residences.

This is an unbiased review.

Cafe Caudal in Rizal

Family Fun with Science at The Exploreum

When Lukas turned 4, we thought of going on an educational trip to stimulate his young and curious mind. I did my research and decided to go to Exploreum – Where science becomes fun at SM Mall of Asia.

Before we went there, I checked the net and showed pictures of astronauts, space and galleries to Lukas.  He was so excited he wanted to go right away. I have checked out the place before but then, Lukas was still a baby so I took note of the place and promised myself that we would visit once Lukas was old enough to appreciate it.  The place reminded me of a place in downtown San Jose.

What exactly is it?

“The Exploreum is a total immersion experience that will stimulate curiosity and inspire science learning in everyone by creating fun, memorable experiences, because we value science as an indispensable tool for understanding our world and enriching people’s lives.

Our all-new interactive exhibits, to be housed in 10 galleries, will cover a wide range of topics related to life on Earth and the fundamental nature of the cosmos. You’ll be exposed to bold science and fun learning experiences in an eye-opening, awe-inspiring environment that will include 3D holograms, realistic wax models, virtual reality simulations, optical illusions, detailed replicas, entertaining games, audiovisual presentations, and more.”

What a superb choice! We went on a Wednesday so there’s not much people and so we enjoyed the whole experience-  exhibits, gallery and the show all the more.  We also loved that it is conveniently located at SM MOA. 🙂

There were 10 interactive galleries where you can learn about interesting stuff.  These are just  some of my favorite pics taken from each of the galleries:

Human Adventure (Kinect style)

I liked the human adventure gallery where I realized that we are truly wonderfully made.  Our bodies are designed so elegantly by our creator.

Little Doctor Lukas so busy with his surgery

My favorite – the Amazing human brain.

Discovery room – filled with simple machines and experiments

“I want to be an astronaut!”

Connect: Me as a “cool” weather girl

The natural world

Zoom – with models of cars, planes and other vehicles

Science on a sphere – how did they make it float?

What I liked about the whole experience was watching a showing at the Dome Theater. At that time, we watched Astronaut which showed how space explorations were done by Astronauts and how they were trained for the journey.  It was narrated by Ewan McGregor which added a little “star magic” into it.  It talked about inner and outer space and how life in outer space is.  It was impressive!  Lukas was so thrilled and decided he wanted to become an astronaut that day!

The Dome Theater

At the end of the day, we were smarter! We learned a lot of things and had super fun! We will definitely go back and watch more showings at the Theater! You too can enjoy the place with your family at P350.00 per head.  This includes a visit to all their galleries + 1 show at the dome theater.

Over-all, I am happy that we have a place like this in Manila. The place is clean and with friendly staff ready to assist you.  The whole area is neat, clean and kid friendly.  They also arrange kiddie parties and corporate events.

The Exploreum is located at G/F Southside Entertainment Mall,  SM Mall of Asia. You may get in touch with them at Tel nos:  +63 (02) 863-2781.

10th Anniversary Getaway (Part 2) – Century Mall: Early Bird Breakfast Club and Hole in the Wall

For our 10th anniversary celebration, we opted to book a room at Serenity Suites, Antel (More of this on my blog: 10th Anniversary Getaway part 1).  After checking in, we happily toured the area.  Adrian proudly showed me his discovery – Century city mall, which is just a minute’s walk from our hotel.  He compares it to places he has seen in Singapore and tells me we should check the mall out. The place is nice, not so big, but just right.  It is neatly tucked in Kalayaan Avenue but is very near our hotel facing Makati Avenue. What I like about it? Cozy, lots of nice shops and definitely not crowded.

We were famished so we went ahead and sampled the Early Bird Breakfast Club. I have seen pics of this resto over at FB with its alfresco ambiance so I wanted to try it out.  It took a while for us to find it.  It is located at the ground floor near Starbucks.

Can’t get enough of this happy place

Sampled their Sunny Salpicao with egg and button mushrooms

Whoops – What happened (haha)? (Calamansi Hazel Nut Ice Tea for me and    Pandan Iced Tea for him

From Big Bird Breakfast Club, we then went up to Hole in the wall, definitely a cool, nice place with super, awesome good food in a dynamic ambiance. This place is filled with around 15 mini-restos where you can order food and eat in a cool dining area.  The view from the window is also superb!

Stared at the ceiling while waiting for my order…

Cold pressed drink from Spruce and Nachos from Posporo – Taqueria Filipina

BIG Shawarma from Liberation Shawarma

Happy eaters!

It was definitely fun to try out new things in the metro. God willing, we will definitely go places, try things and taste good food with many more happy years together! Cheers!

Quality Play Time at Kidzoona, SM City Masinag

Kidzoona formally opened its 3rd branch at SM City Masinag last Saturday, March 14.  This awesome fantasy park is a safe, entertaining and educational indoor playground. It provides an alternative fun-filled  environment suitable for both children and their families.

Kidzoona’s 3rd branch in SM City Masinag

The name Kidzoona is combination of the words “kid” and “kizuna“, a Japanese word that means the bond between a parent and a child. They have over 500 branches in Asia.  As a working mom, I am on the look out for avenues to spend quality time with my son and what better way than to spend time playing with him in this happy place.

Happy bonding time he enjoys; A picture taken at the parent’s lounge, Kidzoona

There are 6 play areas: The Role Play Town, Car Track, Ball Pool, Cyber Wheel, Toy Corner, and the Parent and Guardian Lounge. There are lockers where you can leave your shoes and there’s also a water dispenser available for thirsty kids and parents during play – how thoughtful. No wonder, my little Lukas loves Kidzoona a lot and I love it too!

TOY AREA – Where there are trains, puzzles, doll houses  and other educational and fun stuff!

CAR TRACK – A mini driving range

CYBER WHEEL – A favorite!

BALL POOL – Literally a wide pool area with balls and slides

Looking Back to Move Forward

January 2015 had been fast and we are now on our last week! Really did a lot of thinking about plans and goals for this year. 2014 had been a real breakthrough for me and my family. I quit my job of 8 years to head to the US and enjoy my family for 5 long months. Some learnings here:

I realized that dreams do come true. The US Visa application for me and my son, and a separate application for my husband. Securing and booking our flights. It is just amazing to pray for something and watch how God makes a special way to make it happen and give you your heart’s desires.

I began to love my family more. I was overwhelmed with so much love and support. The love we felt and shared was so heartwarming. I appreciated my Aunties and Uncles for the support and advices. We celebrated my dad’s birthday, our anniversaries and my son’s 3rd birthday. It is just amazing!

I realized how faith and love for God runs deep in our family. Music is in our genes. Speaking and facilitating is a “clan” talent. I am blessed even to realize that service is a privilege – a privilege that  my family members and relatives enjoy!

I finally was able to see Disneyland, with the whole family! The works! So much color and life – beauty, excellence in everything and fun at every turn! Wow! We also got to see the amazing Universal Studios, Monterey bay and aquarium. An awesome “under the sea” experience. Add to this Pier 59, Oakland Zoo, Golden gate at San Francisco, San Jose downtown. I love Cali weather, I love the abundance of food. I love the air, the parks, the malls. i love shopping! I miss Barnes and Noble, Walmart, Michael’s and Ross! So much lovely places to see which stirs my heart to travel and see more of the world.

I loved how I got to see the other side of the world — and how my dad, mom and brother are all in it. I saw how they have been blessed and how they are thriving. My heart wants to be with them and I yearn for the days when we can all share our lives and every day.

US was my long quiet time. It allowed me to think and reflect what makes my heart sing. I began to fall in love with writing – another avenue to show my heart, my art. This page was born there. It was supposed to be a trial/mock-up site! I have truly learned a lot. I purchased my ever first macbook there. Mom and dad gave me an iPhone 5s just because! I read many books and attended trainings there. These were extras, unexpected, delightful experiences.

We came back to Manila and looked for work. My post with my previous company was still open but my heart was strong not to go back as I wanted something new and global. Me and my husband started our new work exactly 3 months after going back to Manila. I’m with HR Change Management now and husband is into Project Management. Exciting times.

My theme for the year – beauty and service. Would very much like to cultivate inner and outer beauty, Would love to have the “unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit.” I’d like to be with people who brings out beauty in others and limit contact with those who are otherwise. I’d like to develop my eyes to see beauty in even the little things which others may not see. I would like to cultivate beautiful friendships and see beautiful places. I bet life is beautiful when you are on the lookout for beauty.

I’d like to serve and use whatever talents I have to make the world seem better. I am on the look out for trainings and workshops to make me better, strong and happy so I can share them with others. I’ve sort of forgotten music and my heart tells me to go back to singing, playing and writing. I want to start my graduate studies so I can be better. I want to serve so I can honor God, the talents He has given me, and others.

OH, 2015, so much things to do and enjoy. May each day be an opportunity to learn, inspire and be better. May this year be filled with opportunities to bloom, blossom and grow to our fullest!
